Growing magic mushrooms

A short introduction to growing Magic Mushrooms

Growing Magic Mushrooms is a simple process. This is tutorial explains in 7 easy steps how to prepare the growing substrate to the final (optional) step of spore printing.

1. Preparing the Growing Substrate: Begin by selecting an appropriate growing substrate, such as a blend of vermiculite, brown rice flour, and water. Sterilize the substrate thoroughly to establish a clean environment conducive to mushroom cultivation.

2. Inoculation with Psilocybin Spores: Employ a sterilized spore syringe to inject the psilocybin spores into the prepared substrate. Ensure uniform distribution to facilitate the growth of mycelium, the mushroom’s root-like structure.

3. Incubation Period: Transfer the inoculated substrate to a controlled environment optimized for mycelial growth. Maintain a steady temperature typically ranging between 75-80°F (24-27°C) and provide darkness throughout the incubation phase.

4. Substrate Colonization: Keep a close eye on the substrate for indications of mycelium colonization. As the mycelium expands, it consumes the substrate, forming a white, web-like network. This stage may span several weeks, depending on the mushroom variety.

5. Initiating Fruiting Conditions: Once the substrate achieves full colonization, introduce the mushrooms to conditions conducive to fruiting. Adjust the environment by lowering the temperature, increasing humidity, and providing indirect light to stimulate mushroom growth.

6. Harvesting Mature Mushrooms: When the mushrooms attain maturity, typically denoted by fully opened caps, delicately harvest them using sterilized tools. Timing the harvest accurately ensures peak potency.

7. Spore Printing (Optional): For those interested in preserving and sharing spores, allow mature mushrooms to release spores onto a clean surface, creating a spore print. This print can serve for future inoculations.
