Cultivation of magic truffles
Growing your own magic truffles is easy, in short you need:
Starting Culture: Obtain either a spore syringe or living mycelium from your preferred strain. Strains such as Psilocybe mexicana, Psilocybe tampanensis and Psilocybe galindoi are suitable for truffle production.
Growing Substrate: Opt for grass seeds, as they are highly recommended as the ideal ‘soil’ for nurturing your truffles.
A Pressure Cooker: You’ll require this for sterilizing your substrate, ensuring optimal conditions for cultivation.

Cultivation process:
Preparation of the Growing Substrate: Begin by combining 10 parts grass seeds with 5 parts water. For example, if you have 1000 grams of grass seeds, you’ll need 500ml of water. This mixture serves as the essential nutrient source for the truffles to flourish.
Sterilization: To ensure a sterile environment conducive to growth, transfer your grass seed and water mixture into a growth bag and proceed to pressure cook it at 15 psi for an hour.
Inoculation: Once the substrate has cooled down, introduce your chosen starting culture, whether it be from a spore syringe or living mycelium. Ensure thorough mixing by shaking the inoculated substrate to achieve an even distribution.
Colonization: Place the inoculated substrate in a dark, warm area with temperatures ideally ranging between 21-25°C. Over the course of 2-4 weeks, periodically agitate the bag. Patience is crucial during this stage as you await full colonization.
Harvesting: After several weeks, truffles will begin to form. These can continue to grow for 3-4 months, increasing in size over time.
Keep in mind that while the process of truffle cultivation may seem lengthy compared to traditional mushroom cultivation, it is relatively straightforward as there is no fruiting stage involved.
